Me with friends, who knew someone involved with Pepperland, were there to help paint the interior. Our compensation was free concerts.

My recollection is we' were painting the portholes (from the inside of the submarine) with paint that glowed (maybe it was just me?) when the lights were down.

Anyway, I'm glad you mentioned that the bills weren't always accurate at who actually played because I remember Captain Beefart, Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane and I'm pretty sure Van Morrison showed up one night.

Such a special time for me. I was just barely 18 and had traveled from the East Coast landing in Lucas Valley the summer of 1970.

Thank you for providing a connection to fond memories. The 12/20 show with Joan Baez was the last show of the year as far as I knew. I never saw any advertising for The Grateful Dead on Monday night and nobody told me. The lightshow at Pepperland was unique and fantastic. I'm very sorry that I wasn't there to operate it that night. I’ve been living in Marin County for over 20 years but did not know about Pepperland. What a treasure it is to read from all of you 😢 I was born in 73 so clearly can only imagine what these times were all about but I’d pay big $ to go back in time and share the fun and stories with all of you, that’s for sure! Funny bit, I’ve been to the “athletic “ store many times for my work and the owner is an acquaintance. Little did I know my all time hero FZ once played there with the Motners!
